Aniseed China Star

(Star Anise)

Origin: China. Botanical Name: illicium verum.  Part of plant used: Seeds. Method of Extraction: Steam distillation. 

Originally native to Greece and Egypt, now widely cultivated. Description: An annual herb, less than a metre high, with delicate leaves and white flowers. Characteristics: Spicy-sweet scent similar to fennel. Properties: Antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, diuretic, expectorant, galactagogue, stimulant, stomachic. Blends well with: bay, cedarwood, eucalyptus, dill, fennel, ginger, mandarin, petitgrain, peppermint,
rosemary.

Safety Data

Precautions: Avoid use with allergic and inflammatory skin conditions. It is advisable to avoid the use of aniseed oil during breast feeding and pregnancy.
